Jonathan and I both had a great time this weekend and we both wanted to share it with you so we're actually writing this post together! We hope you enjoy it!
This past weekend we went to our first Dynamo game in their new stadium! (The Dynamo is Houston's soccer team.) On my last day of work at Schlumberger, one of my coworkers gave me President's Club tickets so not only was this our first time in their new stadium, but we got to sit in the nicest section! We were pretty excited. We also really appreciated these seats because they were in one of the few sections that is covered in the stadium and it was raining cats and dogs that day.

The players coming out! It's tradition in soccer for the players to each come out with a child. |

The camera man had an intense poncho for his camera! |
We got there fairly early and saw many tailgating before the game. The stadium is beautiful and glows orange at night. Our section had a special VIP lounge with a buffet, dessert area, bar, plenty of big screen Tvs and lounge chairs to watch the game. From there we just walked outside straight to our seats which were fancy cushiony seats for our comfort and before we sat down an attendant even wiped down our seats for us since they were slightly wet from the rain.

Ready for the game! |
While we were sitting and waiting for the game we noticed a girl walk by with a medal around her neck that said London 2012. We didn't think it possible, but it turned out that she was an olympic medalist! Her name is Marlen Esparza and she is a Houston native and she won bronze in boxing in London! We both asked to congratulate her and took a picture with her. That's right! We were about 1 foot away from an olympic medal! What a once in a lifetime experience! She was really nice and agreed to take a picture with us. She's a lot smaller than I would expect of a boxer, but I don't think either of us would want to get in the ring with her haha. She was in the opening ceremony and set off a cannon to signify the beginning of the game.

Our team did great considering the fact that there were playing in sheets of rain and kept slipping in the muddy field. Jonathan even pointed out that you could see the water splatter off their heads when they headed the ball. We won 2-0 against New England Revolution. We had to leave halfway through the second half and unfortunately both goals were scored after we left. We were just glad to hear that we won! We had a great time!
